What is a Branch Campaign?
Seeing a friend or family member do good can spark a person's own desire to get involved by starting their own campaign for the organization - we call this a branch campaign. A supporter can use their branch campaign to tap into their own network, with all the donations flowing back to the organization. Every donation counts toward the total goal of the cause, so branch campaigns are an amazing way for lots of people to come together to support something they all believe in.

The Mid Atlantic Football Foundation, Inc is a non-profit (501c3) foundation. It was created in January 2011. It is our goal to provide the youth of our community the opportunity to participate and compete in football related events. By community we include the geography of PA, NJ, DE, MD, VA, DC and WV. This is the community we have established as ours. A positive experience for our young athletes is the top priority of our events. Another goal of the Mid Atlantic Football Foundation is to also “give back” to our community by using our resources to help other well serving charities and hosting our own free clinics, camps and recruiting seminars. We will also provide need-based funding to student-athletes for SAT/ACT test prep course training. We feel we have an obligation to the community we live in and benefit from daily. We will use the full power of our relationships with vendors, sponsors, partners and staff to benefit the youth of our community with football related events and provide needed equipment and resources that the foundation can provide.
The Chesapeake Bowl, the Maryland Crab Bowl and the camps associated with them will be some of the many endeavors that we plan to do in the future.
The Chesapeake Bowl is the premiere event of the Mid Atlantic Football Foundation. It is a senior only all-star football game with players from the North (New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware) competing against players from the South (Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia and West Virginia). The game was created because there are many quality football players in these areas that do not have the opportunity to play in a game like we provide. Our goal with the Chesapeake Bowl is to provide its players and coaches with a unique experience for the high school level. We had our inaugural Chesapeake Bowl in December of 2010. All the players had a great experience and were rewarded for their years of high performance, dedication and commitment to the sport. The players and coaches of the Chesapeake Bowl were hosted over a four day period with activities and practices leading up to the game to provide a true “bowl” like atmosphere. We were able to have former college and NFL players speak to our players and provide insight into what it takes to reach their goal, how important their education is and that it is more important to be a good person than a good player. It was a huge success and exceeded all of our expectations. Labeled as a Regional All-Star its appeal stretched well beyond its geographical boundaries. It captured the attention of college coaches and recruiting fans from around the country. More importantly, the practices and game itself provided many players lacking recruiting exposure a final chance to showcase their abilities with and against the top players in the region. The additional exposure is critical for many players who are trying to impress college coaches and need to get some or all of their college education paid for through football.
Games like the Chesapeake Bowl are not possible without having great people involved on all levels. We knew the coaching staffs for each team were very important, especially in the first year. We had two of the finest men to ever walk a high school sideline. The North Team was coached by Terry Smith from Gateway High School in Monroeville, PA and the South Team was coached by Biff Poggi from the Gilman School in Baltimore, MD. Both coaches were tremendous in their ability to provide the players and coaches with a great experience. The two coaching staffs also had coaches from nationally renowned programs including Bishop McDevitt (PA), Don Bosco (NJ), Penn Hills (PA), Good Counsel (MD), Phoebus (VA) and DeMatha Catholic (MD). They provided the players with a tremendous learning experience and really set this game apart from most of the other games around the country.
We were extremely fortunate to have the collection of coaches involved in our game but it was the players themselves that gave this game its “National” appeal. There was an abundance of high profile, national prospects committed to top schools around the country and many others with offers from top schools coast to coast. Over 80 of the 100 players involved had D1 offers. Over 75 players were ranked by national recruiting services. Because of the exposure from the game and the commitment of the respective coaching staffs to help their players, many unheralded players have since received recruiting interest and football scholarships from colleges around the country.
Players were selected by the Chesapeake Bowl Committee and the selected game coaches based on ability, character, on-field success, and geography. In addition, the Chesapeake Bowl had an “invite” only evaluation and training camp where players had the opportunity to earn roster spots on their respective Chesapeake Bowl team. Not only did we provide the best training camp experience through instruction, organization and exposure, but the Chesapeake Bowl Committee, the game coaches and other qualified personnel were on hand to evaluate the players directly. This was to create an additional evaluation of the prospective players and to benefit the players that may be under the radar, in a remote location or other circumstances that hinder an otherwise deserving player. The Chesapeake Bowl Evaluation and Training Camps will expand this year in an effort to further provide players with the opportunity to experience the benefits of the events. We will have several “mini” evaluation and training camps around the region in the spring where players will be able to earn an invite to their respective North or South Evaluation and Training Selection Camp to be held in July.
The Maryland Crab Bowl is the state’s only statewide, senior only all-star game. When the first Maryland Crab Bowl came to fruition in 2008 it was clear that the best players in Maryland wanted to be a part of it. Many high profile national prospects helped establish the Crab Bowl as a big player in the all-star game arena. Once again the game provides players with a great final high school football experience as well as being a critical exposure opportunity for many of the players hoping to be recruited for college.
Obviously with projects like the Chesapeake Bowl, Crab Bowl, free clinics/camps, recruiting seminars and SAT/ACT test prep courses it is paramount to have good business partners as well as sponsorships and donations. There are many expenses in such an undertaking and it is important to provide a great experience to everyone participating in our events. We want to team with people and businesses that are excited and eager about this opportunity to help the youth of our region. We have extensive experience in creating and operating All-Star games, camps, combines, clinics and recruiting seminars. We feel we have a definitive recipe for success. But once again we have had the privilege of outstanding people involved with our efforts. With the future plans of the Mid Atlantic Football Foundation it is very important that we move forward with structure and strategy. We have three employees in the foundation that will work year round to fulfill its obligations and responsibilities that we have committed to the community. They will also work to create and operate new events and continue to build on the success and reputation of prior endeavors.
The Mid Atlantic Football Foundation is dependent on the generosity of individuals and businesses throughout our region. We are actively seeking financial, product and service donations of all kinds. If you or someone you know shares our passion for football and commitment to assisting and working with the youth of our community please contact us. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again!
