What is a Branch Campaign?
Seeing a friend or family member do good can spark a person's own desire to get involved by starting their own campaign for the organization - we call this a branch campaign. A supporter can use their branch campaign to tap into their own network, with all the donations flowing back to the organization. Every donation counts toward the total goal of the cause, so branch campaigns are an amazing way for lots of people to come together to support something they all believe in.

"Getting Mommy There"
If you haven’t been keeping up with my dear friend’s blog “Geuliya’s Jouney,” here’s a recap of the awe-inspiring story of her recent birth to two, oh, so petite and premature baby girls… It all started 30 weeks ago when the love of a husband and wife became a highly unanticipated, triplet pregnancy. I remember the first phone call. “Sarah, I’m pregnant on an IUD.” Next call, two days later, “The Doc said everything looks fine, but he thinks there might be two!” A few days later, “There are definitely two heart beats, and it looks like there might be another one.” I stopped breathing for a minute, reflexively crossed my legs, and suggested unhelpfully that we “just take this one heart beat at a time.” Two days later…boom… it was confirmed: “There are three heartbeats. I got pregnant naturally with triplets on an IUD.” After the initial shock faded (that took awhile) and the jokes about seed of steel and Super-Size me fertility subsided (that’s still happening), Geuliya and her fabulous husband Chanan’s signature style of faith, humor and love surfaced. By the bucket full. Even with all the scary scenarios that surround a pregnancy of this nature, Chanan and Geuliya maintained an unwavering stance of acceptance – whatever would happen – they would take whatever steps they could to ensure safety and health for their babies– and accept the things that were beyond their control. Their whole approach to this extraordinary situation feels to me like the Serenity Prayer incarnate. “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” They own and live that prayer moment to moment. At 19 weeks, Baby A and B (identical twins) developed a relatively rare condition called TTTS (Twin to twin transfusion syndrome). 2 weeks later Chanan and Geuliya, along with their amazingly supportive and dedicated medical team decided to undergo a cutting edge, in-utero, laser surgery in attempts to separate the shared blood vessels between the twins and give them each a fighting chance at life. Sadly, Baby B died almost immediately after the procedure at 22 weeks. Baby A and C stayed put for another 6 weeks. At 28 weeks, Mia and Zoëy were born by emergency C-section weighing 830 grams and 1 kilo respectively. They are now 2 weeks old. Despite 2 separate bacterial infections, and many episodes of apnea, they have both blessedly regained their birth weight and are receiving state of the art care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Hadassah Ein Kerem in Jerusalem. They are both fragile, but strong in spirit – perfect in all their itsy-bitsy –preemie parts. Their growth and development is a slow and delicate process. We are all hoping and praying for the very best. They are expected to remain in the NICU for the next 2-3 months, until they are strong enough to handle the world beyond the loving care of neonatal experts. In the meantime, Geuliya was released from the hospital over a week ago and trying to heal from a complicated pregnancy, major abdominal surgery, and splitting her time between her 5 kids at home and her 2 babies in the NICU…. Oh, yeah, WITHOUT A CAR. Which brings me to the point of this story and my purpose for telling it… Many of you have approached me and asked how you can be helpful. The outpouring of emails and messages has been astonishing. Well, I figured out something you can do to: Help her rent a car for the next two months or buy a cheap, but reliable, used-car to make her journey to and from the hospital so, so much smoother. Here’s the deal, Chanan needs their car to get to and from work and to make it home in time to pick up the big kids from school. Geuliya has been dependant on hitching rides to and from her home in Tekoa, (a 35-40 minute drive to the hospital, which becomes over an hour ordeal each way just to get to Jerusalem, if she has to take the bus!), or pay obscene fares for a cab ride. Mia and Zoë are on a very specific schedule and getting to them late often means the inability to hold them or to participate in their feeding. Geuliya has missed opportunities to speak directly with their doctors or nurses as a result of inconsistency of her arrival time, not to mention missing out on bedtimes and home-family time if she’s late on the way back. Which is to say that not having wheels of her own is a huge added stress on an already very stress-filled experience. I think we can lighten her load. If you really want to give Geuliya and her babies a gift – I mean, don’t get me wrong, booties are awesome- but imagine how good it would feel to know that you helped shuttle this Mommy to warm her little, preemie ladies on time. They so desperately need her close by. Even giving a little-tiny something to “Getting Mommy There” goes a long way towards actually getting this Mommy there. You feel me? There are no gimmicks here. This is my real friend who needs a ride to her tiny bebes in the hospital and back to her big bebes at home. This small kindness for this hard working family will make a huge difference in the quality of both Geuliya’s life and her preemie’s development. The more kangaroo care these tiny kids can get, the better! When the other babies in the NICU start asking babies Zoë and Mia “Who’s yo Mama?” We don’t want them speaking the embarrassing and totally unacceptable truth, ““That sweaty, stressed-out one over there pumping milk like a madwoman so she can catch the next bus home is our Mom.” Or, “She wasn’t able to hold us for our feed this morning because the ride she hitched was late and she got here during doctors’ rounds.” No… that won’t do. We want all the NICU barins to hear our girls saying loud and strong: “That one who just rolled into the parking lot downstairs, that one who runs back and forth several times daily in that sweet, reliable ride, who feeds us and holds us on her chest and sings to us.. that glowing, smiling, beautiful woman who made it here in time because she has a car and she can honor our schedule because she’s not dependent on public transportation or the kindness of others to hitch a ride back and forth … That one… She‘s our Mama.” Please join me in helping this amazing Mommy get there and back with ease and safety. Thank you so much for taking the time to check this out. May we all be inscribed and sealed in the book of life for a sweet, healthy joy-filled new year. And may it be in a really cool font. With many thanks and deep blessings on behalf of Geuilya and her family – Sarah Zadok to read geuliyah's blog http://tripletjourney.wordpress.com/
